Snow

So, the time has come for snow. This is how I feel about that:

(Actual photo)

This is how Kid D feels about it:

(Not actual photo. She grins way bigger than that when it snows.)

This is what I have to say about it: Let it end. *Whimper*

This is what she has to say about it: Mom, this is a wonderful time of year for me! *Grins and dances through the house chanting "Snowstorm" repeatedly*

This is what the National Weather Service has to say about it:

...BLIZZARD HEADING FOR UTAH THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT...

STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP AHEAD OF AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT
EXPECTED TO MOVE FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE AREA LATE
THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. HEAVY SNOW...STRONG WINDS...AND
BLOWING SNOW WILL ACCOMPANY THE PASSAGE OF THE ARCTIC FRONT.
EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY...

My translation: Sit by the fire and pray for June.

Kid D's translation: Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Ha-ha - I know how you feel! It's not so much the cold or the snow... it's the WIND that's got me battening down the hatches. Last night there were several slide offs up here and the folks up in Rexburg have been telling me to cancel my son's appt because it's too crazy up there. Sigh.

Ready to see the sky.....

Oh, to be a child again when snow means romping in warm snowsuits, building the perfect snowman, the approach of Christmas and magical weather where all the world is bathed in white. Yet, here we sit, miserable adults who equate snow with sore backs and blistered hands from shoveling, soggy clothing strewn everywhere, high energy bills and hours of perpetual dark. At least there's hot cocoa and books - or all might be lost.

Texasblu, the sky moved south for the winter. It will be back in about NINE months. Sigh indeed.
We're getting the wind starting, too. The cats are spooked and so am I. *Shiver*

Jonene, you are so right. Only I don't have any sugar free hot cocoa, but I do have a fireplace and a blanket and my computer or all would be lost for sure.

Well, your kid D and my ds have a lot in common when it comes to snow. We must have let them spend too much time together when they were younger, bad influences, ;-).
Ds will be dancing around thrilled if not actually out in the snow. Blizzard is after all code for 'super fun snow storm to play in' right? Hmpfh!
ooh, new cocoa idea for you. You seriously don't have cocoa powder and honey? Hope you do, use about 1 Tablespoon of each per serving (maybe a bit heavier on the honey). And then...use 1/2 coconut milk (canned) and 1/2 rice milk (soy should work too. Delicious!!!!
Of course, I can see how you might not have coconut milk handy. Shame on you, run out and buy some before the storm hits!

Cherie, thanks for the recipe. :0) But you are right, I don't have any coconut milk on hand, and did I mention it was cold outside? I'm allergic to cold. I think I'll stick by the fire and drink some wassail, virgin of course. :)

So true! Except we have an anomaly at our house: an adult who loves the snow as much as the kids! Hubby gets positively giddy about snow. He LOVES to shovel it and drive in it and see how much he can get our AWD Pilot to spin on the ice of the road. The nice thing is that his enthusiasm is catchy, so I end up enjoying the snow more, too. Good luck to you!

Nikki, my hubby likes the snow a little more than me--a very little. We would both be extremely happy in someplace tropical right now. Hawaii sounds nice. Sigh.

Want some irony? My word verifier is fruit. Pomegranates, anyone? ;)

I admit, this snow has me wondering what the housing market in Arizona is like. I bet I could get a pool. With a hot tub. Want to come with me?

L.T., did I hear hot tub? Oh, I am so there with you. :)

And I just ate some more pomegranate. Yum.
